WARNING! US-5038 must always be used with a shock absorber. You must read and fully understand all instructions, or have all instructions explained to you before attempting to use this device. Equipment must not be installed, operated or inspected by anyone who does not understand this Owners Manual. Failure to observe these instructions could result in serious injury or death. Training and instruction review should be repeated at regular intervals. DESCRIPTION The Model # US-5038 is a small wire grabbing device that follows a workers movement up and down a vertical lifeline. An energy absorbing lanyard is used for connection between the cable grab and workers harness to reduce the forces generated during a fall and to insure compliance with OSHAs maximum force requirements. BEFORE USE Inspect the rope grab for any damage, dirt, oil, grit, paint, etc. Refer to the Cleaning section on the page. Make sure the lifeline is the proper type and size. (3/8 diameter Stainless steel or galvanized 719 aircraft cable (non-lubed) with a minimum tensile strength of 8,000 Ibs.) Tie off the bottom end of the lifeline vertically below the anchorage point to eliminate excess slack.
